Why Be A Member?
Voice
NHNA is your strong voice in public affairs through the Nursing Practice Commission and in political concerns through the Governmental Affairs Commission and a presence in the Legislature. We provide government relations and professional lobbying services, and present testimony on bills that could impact nursing practice and/or healthcare for NH residents.
Integrity
NHNA works to resolve ethical and legal concerns of nurses and protects your right to deliver quality care. NHNA promotes Standards of Practice & the Code for Nurses developed by the American Nurses Association (ANA).
Strength
There is unquestionable strength in numbers. NHNA members support each other, become informed on issues and take positive action. Together, the members of NHNA achieve positive results for the profession of nursing and the individual nurse in New Hampshire.

NHNA Members also have access to leadership opportunities within the Association by serving on a committee or commission. And - events provide tremendous networking opportunities.
Quality Care
NHNA is dedicated to the promotion of health for all New Hampshire citizens through the development and dissemination of evidence-based standards of nursing care. From Standards of Practice to Continuing Education, quality care is an essential focus of the Association.
Advocacy
A nurse who advocates effectively for nurses is a nurse who is better able to advocate for patients. NHNA members have access to advocacy information and skills through the Commission on Nursing Practice to help improve quality care and advance the profession.
Communication
Communication is an essential role of any professional association. NHNA publishes NH Nursing News on a quarterly basis and regularly issues legislative and other email news alerts. Also, this new website can be more readily updated with current news to keep nurses informed on statewide issues, educational activities, and legislation. We hope to add a member 'discussion board' in the near future. Full ANA-NHNA membership provides additional tools such as daily Smart Briefs, OJIN (the Online Journal of Issues in Nursing) and NurseSpace for social networking.
