Our Nursing Practice Commission has thoroughly reviewed and streamlined the NHNA awards program – still recognizing outstanding performance by registered and student nurses as well as exceptional support on the part of others in regard to the profession of nursing.

Four awards are presented each year at the Annual Convention in October - and the Student award recognized during National Nurses' Week in May.

• Direct Care Nurse of the Year
• Professional Advancement
• Champion of Nursing (non-nurse recipient, individual, group or organization)
• Student Nurse of the Year
• President's Award

Recipients of the first four awards are selected based on nominations submitted to the NHNA Commission on Nursing Practice.  The fifth award, the President's Award, is given at the discretion of the NHNA President.
